Michael August is an accomplished music teacher who has taught more than 200 students since 2008. Lessons are accessible for all ages — his methodology makes it easy for beginners to jump right in, building simple rhythms and a foundation of good technique.

Students learn to read standard notation, tablature, chord charts, and lead sheets, all through the context of real, applicable music — note values, chord shapes, scales, and applied theory.

Lessons are typically scheduled in 30-minute timeslots, with a minimum of one slot per week at the same time and day, or sign up for multiple times per week. Michael’s guitar and bass lessons are taught through Mahtomedi Community Education.
